Lili Cassel-Wronker (1924–2019) wurde in Berlin geboren und emigrierte 1938 zunächst nach Großbritannien und 1940 mit ihrer Familie nach New York. Sie studierte Kunst in Washington und New York und arbeitete danach für das Time Magazin. 1947 veröffentlichte sie ihr erstes Kinderbuch. Bis ins hohe Alter arbeitete Lili Cassel-Wronker als Illustratorin und Kalligrafin und unterrichtete an einer Kunsthochschule. Ihr „London Diary“ ist ein überaus kunst- und liebevoll illustriertes Tagebuch, in dem die damals 15-jährige Lili ihren Aufenthalt in London im Winter 1939/40 festhielt. Das beeindruckende und berührende Zeitdokument wurde dem Deutschen Exilarchiv von Lili Cassel-Wronker als Schenkung für die Sammlung überlassen. Im Herbst 2025 wird es nun erstmals im Verlag Das kulturelle Gedächtnis veröffentlicht.

Lili Cassel-Wronker (1924–2019) was born in Berlin and emigrated first to Great Britain in 1938 and then to New York with her family in 1940. She studied art in Washington and New York and then worked for Time magazine. In 1947, she published her first children's book. Cassel-Wronker worked as an illustrator and calligrapher into old age and taught at an art college. Her London Diary is an exquisitely and lovingly illustrated diary in which the then 15-year-old Lili documented her stay in London in the winter of 1939/40. Cassel-Wronker donated this impressive and touching historical document to the German Exile Archive for its collection. It will now be published for the first time in the fall of 2025 by the publisher Das kulturelle Gedächtnis.
